Banner Ads -- Some Terms You Should Know

animated

Any kind of movement you'll see on a banner. Example: flashing click here button, Rotating text, moving images are all considert animations.

 

animation time

Time of animation from displaying first frame to last frame.

 

banner phrase

One of the most important factors of banner design!  The banner phrase should be "short and sweet".  It should grab attention the moment the visitor spots the banner.

 

dimension

Actual size measured in pixels. Standard size at this time is 468x60, but many more new non-standard sizes are introduced. New non-standard size for example: 125x600

 

file size

Regular file requirements are 10 to 12k. Each banner program will have different file size requirements. Note: the larger the file size the more attractive the banner can look.

 

loops:

How many times each indivitual frame will be displayed. Example: no loops means each frame will be displayed once. 1-loop will dispay each frame twice, etc... continious animation will not stop and repeat each frame over and over.

 

static

No movement at all. All you see is one static frame.
