Big Band Orchestra Web Site with Audio
The
kim Kelly Orchestra
Talk about starting from scratch! We started out from
nothing and made a really fun site that shows off the sounds
and capabilities of this 17-piece orchestra.
The Website Design
This was a fun site to design. I took one of their
group photos and, using Photoshop, cut out the band members
to make a festive setting for the group in the banner.
Kim
Kelly, the band leader, liked the sexiness of the black
background, so a yellow font color was used to soften the
contrast that would have hurt the eye had the font been white. This
all-to-important detail is one of many techniques that keep
visitors at the site longer.
The Website Copy
Don't think that you can just put up any content and
have it be effective. There is too much competing information
and you need to stand out. Help the potential client
visualize why they should choose you.
Here is a sample of
the opening paragraph -- intended to create a mood and
immediately get them interested by listing to their dynamic
sound:
"It is the details that make the difference between a
good event and a memorable one; and there is no detail
more important than the ambiance created by music. Listen
to some sample tunes and see what we mean."
Adding the Audio Files
The band already had a CD of some of their recordings. I
was able to take this and, after some formatting conversions
to make it play using Windows Media Player, it was able to
load and play quickly.
